In the framework of COP27 in Sharm-El-Sheikh the Sudanese Environment Conservation Society participated in a side event organized by RTI International titled” minimizing unintended consequences of climate change mitigation and adaptation policies in the Nile Basin” with RAED-Arab Network for Environment and Development.
The objectives of the session were focusing on the positive and negative impacts of the unintended consequences of climate change adaptation and mitigation policies and suggesting solutions to minimize them, and addressing the role of the civil society organizations in working on ways to strengthen resilience, adaptation and mitigation at communities on national and river basin wide levels, and engaging women and girls in related capacity building actions.
On November 15 SECS held an exhibition in the blue zone and displayed some of their publications. SECS’s representative reviewed the past and present campaigns and projects like the Green Schoolyard Project and Clean and Green Sudan campaign. She also talked about the Action for Regional Climate Help (ARCH) project which is run by SECS and CRISP organization; it is a regional project aims to build the capacity of youth organizations that work on climate change.
