About

Our Story

We are the Sudanese Environment Conservation Society (SECS)  a national, independent organization founded in 1975 with a steadfast belief that the environment is not a luxury, but the foundation of life, development, and stability in Sudan.
At SECS, we work to uphold the right of every Sudanese man and woman to live in a healthy, safe, and sustainable environment. Since our establishment, we have chosen to work with the people and for the people making community participation the essence of our mission and volunteerism the core of our strength.
From cities to rural communities across Sudan, SECS has expanded to over 113 branches, led by thousands of dedicated members and activists committed to conservation.

We believe that conservation is key to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Therefore, we focus on fair and efficient natural resource management, contributing to the development of policies and laws that safeguard these resources for future generations.
We also work hand in hand with local and rural communities to develop realistic, sustainable environmental solutions that connect environmental justice, economic empowerment, and social peace.
