The Sudanese Environment Conservation Society Launches Annual Tree Planting Campaign in Gedarif State Schools

Al-Muassassat Girls Intermediate School witnessed the launch of the annual tree planting campaign initiated by the Sudanese Environment Conservation Society (SECS), Gedarif brabch. The event was attended by a large number of society leaders, teachers, and students. Fift diverse shade and fruit trees were planted in coordination and partnership with the Education Department, represented by the Department of Education and Educational Media at the Ministry of Education, in addition to the administrations of selected schools and students, with contributions from the National and State Forestry Corporation and the Horticulture Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, which provided the seedlings.
The tree planting campaign began last week, encompassing eight schools within Gedarif Municipality, where 313 diverse seedlings were planted and distributed to schools at various levels, amidst the appreciation and enthusiasm of the attendees.
In a press statement, Mr. Ibrahim Ali Abkar, the Secretary-General of the Society, affirmed that the Society strives to protect the Sudanese environment from drought and desertification, in addition to cleaning and protecting natural environments and facilities. The Secretary-General highlighted some of the Society’s achievements, including creating environmental balance since its establishment in 1975 as the first specialized national environmental organization at the Arab and African levels. The branch of SECS was founded in Gedarif Municipality in 1998 and is considered one of the oldest national organizations in the region.
